The Infamous Bus Window Video

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

Seeing this video 6 or 7 years after it happened is a shock to my system. You can hear me slam against the bus as my foot goes onto the tire and my leg gets cut by the wheel well. The cameraman, Los, can’t even see where I am and is pointing in the direction of the window I climbed out of while I was already struggling to climb in through the other opened window just a couple of seats over.

The clapping comes primarily from a stunt double and his girlfriend who later bought me ‘whatever I wanted’ from West Mall Donuts in Etobicoke. I ordered an extra large double double and threw it into the parking lot right after giving the guy all my contact info. We randomly ran into my boy Cooper who took us to my parents house in a cab. The night ended with me and Los trying to get my dad to open the door to my house, sleeping in a playground set at a park near by, in a box that I had emptied out in my garage, and then on my lawn because he wouldn’t open the door for my drunk ass, and then waking up to my neighbors going about their daily chores at around 1 in the afternoon with grass on my face while Los walked halfway home through the night.

To preface this whole scene, I had previously climbed out of a moving taxi cab backseat window and into the open shotgun window as it sped on the 427 North. Don’t believe me? Ask my boy Arowbe, my homey Gavin Sheppard, or the dude who saw it all and has seen a lot more than any of my other friends - Los.

Trouble Maker?

A few of ya’ll saw me get into a little scuffle in the club last Friday and have been sending me messages saying, “I didn’t know you were a trouble maker”, etc.

Put it like this - you’re lucky to know the Bryan I am now, and for those of you who have been around through it all, you already know what it is. We get bigger and better as time moves on baby.

Sampled: Isaac Hayes

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

This here is a selection of hip hop tracks inspired by the legend, the late, Isaac Hayes.

The compilation consists of tracks we all know and love that sampled such classics as “Walk On By”, “The Look Of Love”, and “The Theme from Shaft”.
It’s unfortunate that in the same way James Brown seemed to become a forgotten Godfather of not only funk and soul, but of Hip-Hop music, some of us are guilty of failing to recognize the great achievements and contributions many of these artists have made to our culture while they are still living.

Here’s the track in full for those of you who are just a little bit late.

Crackberry Corn

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

I just saw this video on the inqmnd blog and ironically as I was on my way to the bathroom at work today, one of my coworkers was prepped to try the stunt - so I grabbed my camera and recorded us popping some popcorn with our blackberrys at work. or not.

Toronto Legend: Megas aka Vengeance

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

Check this ill video of Megas (Toronto) and K-Mel (Bronx from what I remember), both from The Original Boogie Brats Crew, repping in Chicago. This dude was a huge inspiration to myself, my boy Prince Kev, Deadly, Lostyle, and probably every b-boy coming up at that time. He was one of the nastiest natural b-boys Toronto had ever bred, and I remember one year going to Los Angeles and everyone asking me if I knew 3 people - K-os, Dizzy (Supernaturalz Crew), and Megas, far after he had already quit dancing.

Timestamp 1:00 - 1:30.
Some nasty ass shit..

I went on a little bit of a rant on the original post, but cut and pasted it into the end to humor anyone who’s interested.
