Humans. We are Amazing.

What I am always fascinated by is the ability we all have to push our limits. I am a firm believer that while we learn at the highest rate from the age of 1-6 years old, we make a conscious choice to not continue to learn once we complete school or mandatory training for work or our careers. What I find incredibly motivating in creative individuals is their necessity and drive to continue to learn and grow even as their careers grow older and older. Dancers teach themselves new movements, techniques, and disciplines, visual artists take on new media and new forms of communication to distribute messages, and so on and so forth.
The drive and motivation to expand one’s mind, to me, is incredible. We now live in a world without borders and inhabit a place with no informational limitations. We are free to learn and expose ourselves to whatever we want. But what do we do with it? Some, maybe most, don’t do anything with it at all. They sit comfortably at a desk and do what is necessary. Then they sit comfortably in a couch and watch the programs that satisfy their want for entertainment. Is there anything wrong with this? No. But it’s the people who utilize the tools and talents at hand that I am interested by.
Below are 3 videos that I’ve watched over the past few days. They are an example of incredible human ability in physical strength, creativity and self-control, unbelievable creative story-telling in an unfamiliar manner that is both visually impressive and psychologically intriguing, and outstanding human mental capacity for mathematics and memory.
Very inspiring stuff.
