Half Good

Half Good by Bryan Espiritu.

So I’m just half good, that’s what I’ve proven since,
No sights but winks are so whole convinced.
That’s one eye looking while the left eye squints.
Just some TLC..
“We’ll see, we’ll see”.

I’ve treaded grounds to make my moves,
No schmoozing; snoozed through the camera views.
Not you, but Tumi knew me nice.
(I feel we life’d once. Once or twice.)

Of men and mice are our mazes made.
Of maidens lace am I daily swayed.
But the games of the sane are rarely played,
When the cloaks displayed are my frayed remains.

And my gear gets got by the folks that know,
And bought by those whose support gets show.
Then the onslaught comes if the business slows,
“Go, go get dough.”
But my dreams implode.

And they say I’m half good, almost nice.
I’m the almost, almost of the almost right.
I’m the alter ego’s thoughts at night,
To almost quit,
Til I pull this shit..

And a ear once said that they almost heard,
I wrote half words, all were most absurd.
And a touch, half brushed on my textured book,
Then again, half winked with a vex’ed look.

No full-on glance ever called me “part”,
Nor questioned fourths of my portioned heart,
All the chambers made from what forth I’ve put,
Putt-putts just along the same line I start.

So they say I’m half good, it’s nearly fair.
That’s nearly where I’d like to see me share.
But no scared spark will exceed a flare,
If he ain’t half bad, it’s neither here nor there.

I’m bound to be the potential never seen,
The quintessential, “He’s just a ‘Could Have Been’”.
And at just half good, I should have cut the scene…
A dull man is better dead as a teen.
