A Photo A Day by Tim Okura

—————————————

Aside from being one of the O.G. contributors to TheLegendsLeague from the start and one of my favourite designers, Tim Okura has a pretty crazy eye for photos that are dope just for the old school sake of being dope. Not making them victims of an abusive Photoshopaholic father, he’s decided to take 1 photo a day for the entire year on his point and shoot Pentax Optio camera and lay them into a vintage style photo frame for the sharing.I

‘ve been fortunate enough to be able to have them at my finger tips to share with you.

Enjoy. Daily.

And feel free to let us know what you think, feel, taste, and smell when you see them.

On the evening of the release of the new Sony PlayStation 3, arguably the biggest campaign that I would ever design and be a part of, I prepared to head home from the office. With plans to meet with friends and my lady, I rushed to gather my things from my desk. While doing so, I get bumped and asked,
“So what’s up, nigger”?

This is for you, my friend. This, is what’s up.

Give it to the street kid ’cause he can relate
to the poor, the impoverished, the beaten and raped.
He can do graffiti, he knows bullies in Bape,
he knows the difference between a Green Bean, a Grape and a fake.

We heard he’s been to jail but some say overnight
for a fist to a cops face, or was it a fight
on a drunk night. But that shit’s a general sight
when you live in the ghetto with no men in your life, right?

Talk to the street kid he knows “what it do”.
You can tell from his manner, and his swagger and shoes.
He’s been fucked up, but fucked up a numerous few.
We heard he’s got a heavy hand, never ran with a crew.

But he was Top Notch, he had a baby with who?
Oh, she’s a “b-girl”, that’s like a “Gangsta” or “Goon”.
We should ask him, “What does crack have to do with a spoon”,
or what happened with his getting down with Gators and Toons?

He was a protege, and I heard he used to rob from the rich,
I heard he was in a restaurant and started some shit.
They caused a stink over some racist bullshit with this man
who they smashed with a mug, and he fractured his hand.

We can give it to the street kid ’cause he can relate
to the poor, the impoverished, the beaten and raped.
He can break dance, I heard that they got it on tape
he looks like he’s cleaning floors, that’s the shit that I hate.

He could never afford nothing, his friends are druggies and drunks
who sell “hydro” and Jordans from their bumpers and trunks.
They live in projects with government subsidized rents,
Where they can cover all the “Brothers” with cement and a fence.

But I love rap music cause it makes me feel tough,
I love the beat, though I never listen to lyrics enough.
It’s all the same, theyre just talking about 40’s and blunts,
What’s a “blunt”? I think I saw him in the office with one.

You know the song where Jay-Z says, “I’m a hustler” and pimp?
That’s my shit, when I’m on a business trip with a bitch.
I’m a “Stunner”, sometimes I pretend that I walk with a limp,
and in the club, I hold my blackberry, splurging on drinks.

Holding my dick, like they do in the videos, watch.
Is that a grill? Yo, let’s laugh at how this idiot talks.
“Yo shit is ill”, what’s he know about a mortgage and stocks.
He had two fathers and he named them each, “Biggie” and “Pac”.

Alot of times me and my boys pretend we’re holding on guns,
at the cottage we take pictures like we’re niggers for fun.
But it’s just a joke, I would never display hate to the poor,
the impoverished, or Africans on world charitable tours.

It’s the same as when they say it in the songs that I play,
It’s the same as the shit that we’re hearing all day.
He said, “put my niggers on”, that’s the newest from Jay,
and Kanye, say, “Nigger” in the funniest ways.

They do skits, I once saw this whole thing on Chappelle,
With the Niggar family, that was funny as hell.
We all laughed at the dinner table in Saskatoon
And dad talked about how back when “Niggers were Coons”

He used to work with one, a cleaner they used to call him “Baboon”.
Just as a joke, he knows that black people are coming up soon.
It would be mad hilarious if they made a cartoon,
and maybe things would be safer, lock them all in a room.

And maybe AIDS would be gone and the crime level down,
and the smell when you’re lady wants a night on the town,
would go away if we put all the niggers in cells,
They sell drugs, and buy guns and dont make lives for themselves.

But I love rap music cause it makes me feel tough,
and I love him, because i know he can relate to the stuff,
and I love rap music cause it makes me relate,
and I love that now he can be my bully in Bape.

And I love that maybe one day we can go to the mall,
and ball out, and get some fly spring shit in the fall.
And I love that we can get along and it makes me feel good,
that now I have a close connection to someone from the hood.

And I love that he called me, “dog” the last time that we spoke
I guess I can call him, “Nigga” as a joke.

Nope
