A 5 Minute Me. – Day 22

by be.

DAY TWENTY TWO RESULTS:

Face Shape: Too long and very robotic. My face from the front is very angular, but this is over the top angular. I look like a transformer.

Eyes: I only got to one, and if I was a cyclops I’d still be unimpressed by the illustration of that one eye. It looks way too small and a tad too high, and I’m clearly becoming more and more frazzled by the decline in my ability to tackle these drawings.

Nose: The nostril size is pretty bang on, but obviously I didn’t get to much else of the details.

Mouth: The lower lip shouldn’t be bigger than the upper lip. That’s just not the way my mouth looks. Also, the edges of the lower lip go too far out. This is an embarrassing effort at drawing my mouth.

Details: N/A.

Final Thoughts: I’m starting to get frustrated with my inability to draw myself after shaving my head. I know that it sounds silly, but if you go back to the first day I cut my hair, it’s the most raw, the most emotional, the most personal, and also the most impressive illustration I’ve done for the 5 Minute Me. After that day, which I believe was Day 17, I have been on a clear decline. I’m thinking too much and I never enjoy the drawing aspect of this project anymore. I’m basically just waiting to be done. I wish the progress kept going, but that’s the nature of doing something like this I guess. You don’t know what the results are gonna be and you have to stick to it. I hope that the drop in the quality of the drawings hasn’t affected the writing too much from the outsiders perspective.

DAY TWENTY TWO PIECE:
Escapism. (written in 4mins 43secs)

Escapism,
like I’ve stayed sitting in place and ran
hands on my face
and standing almost half of the way to the sand,
seeing a shore.

I know in stroke
my being is more.

But I’m not one for a swim.

So unlike him this is never a sea I’d explore.

I seal it in stone.

Etch a house from a meaningless home,
dug from a pail,
and put a slug in the mug of a snail.

I move too fast.

Looking for the right place to have left.

Searching on maps,
’til I find that chest dug up under my “X”.
